In March I wrote a blog addressing the concerns of PCSing, 3 Things I Bet You Didn’t Know About Military PCS’s . Military families are masters of packing their lives into boxes and starting fresh - over and over again. With each move, our family experienced a mix of excitement and sadness. Saying good-bye to dear friends was hard, but then we’d take a deep breath and look forward to our new adventure!

Capturing Firsts and Lasts with Military Kids

An Army friend recently posted two photos of her daughter on Facebook: side-by-side pictures of the first day of Kindergarten, and the last day of her senior year of high school. Wow. That young lady was beautiful and had changed so much in those in-between years.

We don’t always get to mark the firsts and lasts of our children’s lives. If we knew it was the last time we would read them a bedtime story, would we take it a little slower? Or would we rush through so we could say goodnight and get some peace and quiet for ourselves? If it was going to be the last time they would climb up into our lap, would we savor that moment a little bit more?

School children are starting to count down the days until summer break. Easter, Income Tax deadlines and Earth Day all take place in April.
