I cannot let this holiday pass without writing about it. Thanksgiving is still a holiday about just being together and being thankful. The simplicity of that sentiment should never be lost.

The Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month

Do you know what that refers to? If you answered, “Veteran’s Day," you are correct. It’s a day to remember and appreciate all that veterans have sacrificed to make our nation great. And make no mistake, the sacrifice is real and it is immense.

Veterans Day was created at the end of the First World War, or as it was known at the time, “The Great War.” Although the war was officially over with the Signing of the Treaty of Versailles in June of 1919, the fighting ceased the previous November. At 11 am on November 11,1918, the Allied and German forces declared an armistice. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
