As the leaves turn and Old Man Winter starts to make his presence known, the thoughts of parents with college-bound students everywhere turn not to turkeys and trees, but to the impending FAFSA; another Financial Aid season starts soon. The Financial Aid season officially begins January 1st, 2014, the first day that the Federal government allows parents to start submitting the FAFSA. For many parents and students, it is a day which looms over the holiday season itself…. waking us up in the middle of the night with worries such as “what if my w-2 gets lost in the mail?” or “what if we don’t qualify?”

Living up to the Motto

According to Webster’s Dictionary, a motto is a sentence, phrase, or word inscribed on something as appropriate to or indicative of its character or use and also, more importantly in terms of this blog, a short expression of a guiding principle. Most corporations and nonprofits have a motto or a mission statement.

Catching Up on Your Child’s Academic Portfolio

I have to confess that, while I spend a lot of time teaching parents how to be more organized, I hadn’t organized my children’s class work from this past year. It seems like a great item to check off of our back to school list! I know that organizing the kids’ schoolwork can seem overwhelming and maybe pointless, but it doesn’t have to be difficult.
