Military Child Education Coalition Announces CEO Succession Plan

Dr. Mary Keller, after twenty years as MCEC President and Chief Executive Officer, to Retire December 2018

HARKER HEIGHTS - After more than 40 years in education, and almost 20 years as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), Dr. Mary M. Keller announces her intention to retire in December of 2018. Military-connected children, parents, and the Board of Directors owe Dr. Keller a huge debt of gratitude for her unselfish efforts over these past 20 years. As MCEC begins its third decade of service to military-connected children, the search for a new president and CEO will begin.

MCEC and the Board of Directors will soon post this job opening and job description across multiple web sites. The recruiting and selection process will continue through the early spring with the final selection occurring in May 2018. The board anticipates an overlap with Dr. Keller and the newly designated executive will fully assume duties in December 2018.

As Dr. Keller enters her final year leading the MCEC, her focus will remain on the military child. Her 2018 priorities are building and sustaining relationships as a coalition, protecting and strengthening the MCEC reputation, ensuring the relevance of the MCEC services and programs, and securing and stewarding the resources afforded to the MCEC. This deliberate succession plan will set the conditions for the MCEC to continue its mission to ensure inclusive, quality educational opportunities for all military and veteran-connected children affected by mobility, transition, and family separation well into the next decade and help us all realize our shared vision that every military child is college, workforce, and life ready.
