Join us January 31-February 1 in El Paso, Texas
for the MCEC 360 Summit.

MCEC 360 Summits are designed to support schools and districts that are seeking or currently hold the Purple Star Designation. Attendees will participate in sessions that provide critical learning opportunities that support Purple Star readiness in your schools and district.

The event is free of charge and includes professional development on serving the military-connected students, interaction with MCEC Community Coordinators and School Liaisons, Student 2 Student® program training for school groups, and a Tell Me A Story® event for parents and their children.

This event is funded through TEA.

Part 1: For Professionals

Join us for a day of professional learning! Two of the topics presented include Supporting Military Children Through School Transitions - Foundations and Responding to Military Children with Exceptional Needs.

What to expect:

  • Professional Development sessions geared to support military connected-students in your community. 
  • Collaboration and networking opportunities with other educators and community leaders in the area. 

Breakfast and lunch provided. 

Continuing Education Credits: 

Upon completion of the post-training survey, participants may apply for continuing education credits. CE credit applications must be received within 12 months from the completion of the training. 


Part 2: For Parents and Elementary-Aged Children

Join us for an evening of fun and learning with MCEC's Tell Me A Story (TMAS), featuring the book The World Needs More Purple People. TMAS uses literature and storytelling in a way that fosters resilience, strong peer and parent connections, and a sense of pride and accomplishment. Each family will receive a copy of the book to take home with them. Dinner is provided.

Part 3: For Students 

On day 2 of the Summit, MCEC will conduct a Student 2 Student (S2S) training for K-12 schools. S2S is a student-led program that brings military and civilian students together to welcome new students, create a positive environment, support academic excellence, and ease transitions.
