Digital Graphic Designer

I. Position Overview

The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization committed to improving the lives and educational achievement of military-connected children. We’re looking for a Digital Graphic designer to join our marketing team. Using independent judgment and action, the ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, creative thinker with hands-on experience creating a variety of formats for digital and print, including; infographics, social media and web graphics (banners and ads), web page design, email marketing templates, and collateral materials.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Digital Graphic Designer will be selected by the MCEC® Director of Marketing and Communications, and Director of Human Resources. The Digital Graphic Designer will work part-time from the MCEC headquarters located in Harker Heights, Texas. 

Key Responsibilities

Graphic Design

  • Taking direction from the Senior Graphic Designer, execute creative marketing concepts and campaigns for branding, digital advertising, photography, graphic design, website branding, social media, various collateral and blogs to increase awareness in the MCEC brand.
  • Obtains approval of concepts and final layouts from the Marketing Director and Senior Graphic Designer.
  • Coordinate product photo shoots with the MCEC Store manager.
  • Produce multimedia content including videos and GIFs.
  • Achieve effective design for a variety of Web browser capabilities.
  • All other graphic design projects as assigned.
  • Ideate and execute design through a wide variety of mediums and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite 5 and video production tools.
  • Collaborate and recommend solutions to cross-functional teams.  
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, producing high-quality work, and maintaining a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
  • Review final productions for errors and ensure all requirements are satisfactorily met.

III. Position Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (BFA in Graphic Design is preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience in design or related field

IV. Selection Process

Our selection process will be conducted in phases.
Phase One: In addition to the cover letter and resume, applicants are requested to submit a two-page response to the questions below:

  2. Describe your work style, how you interact as part of a team and your receptiveness to receiving direction.

Phase Two: Qualified candidates may be invited to submit further documentation prior to the telephone interview process. These individuals will also be expected to submit the names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for three professional references.

Phase Three: Based on the telephone interview results, a select number of candidates will be invited to a face-to-face interview with the MCEC selection team.

In addition to providing resumes, references and proof of academic credentials, applicants must also submit to extensive background checks, and possible fingerprinting.
