Military Child Education Coalition Launches New Online Global Support System for Students, Parents and School Professionals.

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas -- The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) announced today it has officially transitioned its online support platform to a more comprehensive resource called the Military Student Consultant (MSC) initiative.

“MCEC has proven to be a trusted resource for transition- and deployment-related needs for more than 20 years, and the MSC initiative is the right move, at the right time, for us and those we serve” said MCEC Vice President of Programs and Curriculum Annette Farmer. “Through this initiative, we are able to enhance our services in support of military-connected students, parents and school professionals through a more structured, personalized concierge platform tailored to their needs around the world.”

The new structure of the MSC initiative ensures regional one-on-one support for advocacy and problem-solving resources to assist students and parents in the following categories:

  • Transition support – specific concerns regarding academic, developmental, or social-emotional challenges military-connected students and families face
  • Relocations – permanent changes of station (PCS), moves due to deployment cycles, retirements and expiration of term of service (ETS)
  • Academics – inquires based on credits transfers or transcript evaluations needed to ensure military-connected students are prepared for requirements needed at their new locations.
  • College, Career or Life Readiness – broader transitional situations that include significant changes impacting personal, professional, and academic changes
  • Special Education Process – military-connected family members who registered in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), those with a written Individualize Education Program (IEP), and/or those who qualify for a 504 Accommodation Plan

“We are excited to collaborate alongside professionals as experts in the field to assist with identifying resources and support solutions for complex issues often associated with the military lifestyle,” said Military Student Transition Consultant Program Manager Tara Gleason. “We’re confident this platform will offer our military-connected families and professionals the kind of personal and professional attention they have asked for and deserve.”

Information on how to reach an MSC representative is location on the Military Child Education Coalition’s website.
