A Celebration of Military Kids
Monday, July 29, 2024 — 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Marking the 20th Anniversary of MCEC’s Student 2 Student and benefiting the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program (FHSLP), the Gala will serve as the kickoff event for our 2024 Global Training Summit (GTS) and an opportunity to join our community and rally in support of military children! Join us for dinner and an evening of friendship, celebration, entertainment, and contribution as we come together in support of leadership opportunities for our military-connected children.
Announcing! Our featured speaker at the 2024 MCEC Gala Opening Event:
Lieutenant General Darrell K. Williams
(U.S. Army Retired), President, Hampton University
As a military leader, business leader, educator, and parent of military-connected children, President Williams understands both the challenges facing today’s youth and what it takes to set them on a path to success. The journey towards being college, work, and life-ready requires helping all students build a strong foundational base. Through enhancing opportunities, accessible learning, well-being, and community connections, we can build a strong framework enabling every military-connected to thrive and prepare them for a global future.
What is the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program?
The mission of the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program is to grow and sustain the Student 2 Student (S2S) program on the local campus. Established by MCEC in 2006, the FHSLP offers an intensive experience for selected students to enrich their leadership and team-building skills. The week-long program builds skills through personal and small group settings. Students gain confidence and competence in their leadership skills and combine that with a commitment to build their local S2S program. Admission to this competitive program is awarded by scholarship for up to 20 students each year.
Attire:
- Cocktail or business professional
- Military service uniform
The Gala is included with full GTS registration, or can be purchased as a standalone event for $125 per ticket.
